I've just formatted my GemXPresso V3 card with cardedge applet installed
using XCard II 0.9.9. Now I'm trying to generate keys with it. I think
I can get through the process alright, but I'd like to understand what
I'm doing better. For example, when I right-click on the KEYS item in
the subtree under MuscleCard Applet, I get a dialog box that says
"Generate Private Parameters." It has a few options that are easy to
understand but I'm a little confused about the permissions. It has four
options for each permission level. The permission levels are "Read,"
"Write" and "Usage." The four options that I can set each of them to
are "Allowed," UnAllowed," "PIN #0," and "PIN #1." So I'm wondering:
If this is a private key, why would I ever want it to be readable? I
get the feeling that I'm not fully understanding what is going on here.
I'm also confused about what the PIN #0 and PIN #1 options do. Could
someone please enlighten me?
