Follow-up Comment #9, bug #18444 (project mypaint):

The bug is still happening (randomly) as of the latest GIT commit (1470230).
Today is September 29, 2011.
Un-docking anything from the dock (and then re-docking it) will fix the bug
for all of the other docks too (color wheel, layers, etc.). Sometimes clicking
on some button or drop-down menu will fix it, but not very always.
The bug randomly appears on program start, but once fixed, doesn't occur
again until MyPaint is closed and restarted.
It seems that the best fix is to do something that changes the geometry of
the side dock.
The bug occurs on anything in the dock. It can happen on the brush list, the
color sampler, the layer dialog, etc.. Though strangely, it doesn't seem to
always happen on all of them at the same time.
