Follow-up Comment #8, bug #18834 (project mypaint):

I'm not saying that going for a Windows specific solution is mandatory. I'm
just saying GTK's future on Windows seems pretty grim, and we maybe should
pickup another toolkit that replaces it and make our UI code more generic with
a glue layer between UI logic and the toolkit used. As Bakhtiar suggested,
maybe there are other options (that I do not know about) like QT. At some
point I was also aware of some wxWidgets control library that is also cross
platform, no idea about its quality though.

About fixing GTK, I honestly think the problems are so deep inside this time
that are beyond fix in 2.24. The only option is to wait for 3 to come on
Windows, which might be very far away in the future, and it is not guaranteed
to work anyway.
