Would it be possible to post all config files involved or email them to
me? I'm still having some trouble getting this to work. I can run mplayer
-aw hwac3 and my amp reports that it's getting Dolby Digital, but I don't
get any sound. This seems like a mixer problem maybe rather than in input
problem? Xine never seems to work, and I've tried all of the suggestions
in this thread as far as I can tell. Can someone post a comprehensive list
of what needs to be looked at? i.e. asound.state, .asoundrc, xine config,
etc.

Type

$ cat /proc/asound/version

and make sure you're using version 1.0.7. Previously, I was using 1.0.6 from the stock Linux kernel which was my only problem. The default asound.conf file is sufficient as long as you configure the application correctly (ie, use -ac hwac3 for mplayer, etc.).

Ah.... yep, looks like I'm running version 1.0.6. I'm running Fedora Core 2, so now my next question... How do I upgrade? :-)

Are the instructions on the net somewhere? I installed everything from atrpms, so it looks I can't upgrade that way? I'm experienced with Linux so I'm not afraid to get my hands dirty. :-) Does this require a kernel recompile?

Thanks again for all the help,
Michael
