Yeah, that's what I need to do. 4 TVs. 1 DVD player.
I'm sure not everyone will like everything, but they will watch
what ever I put in, because they aren't allowed to
bring video players or boom boxes on the trip. Walkmen (?)
and cameras are the only things allowed.

Not to my knowledge - you need to rip the DVD first. Or,
make an ISO of it and then the frontend can NFS mount it
using xine or something.

Yep. Just the comment about buying the PVR and burning
a DVD caught me off guard. Those units are still in the $400
range. I'm sure someone would rather write a program that
integrates nicely with myth for that amount. That would
definitely be cool to have.

Then again, the playlist feature is really neat, and I've already
used it about 10 times to push stuff off to video tapes
to send to my mom. The picture she gets from HGTV
is really crappy, so I tape stuff for her and send it
down. She only has a VCR and no desire for a DVD player.
I figure it's ok because she's paid for the programming,
and it's not her fault the stupid cable company can't
get the signal for the upper channels into her house
clearly...
