this is a pvr for crying out loud
it should not have options to disable pvr functionality
if i wanted to surf i'd just switch inputs on my tv and watch regular tv
that said,
I used to find the channel changing delays annoying as well
2 things have happened
both are good things
1) it speeded the process of changing the way i watch tv
ie - what i want, when i want (mostly recorded programs)
2) i set the "live tv" to always use "browse mode"
ie - when you hit the channel change button
it just pops up info about the next channel
and you can choose whether to change to it
