Hi Jean Ann,
The Gel Polish is part of a system that comes with a Base Gel and Sealer. It is applied much more thinly than traditional Gels. It is softer and more flexible than traditional Gels and you can NOT make an extension or use it over Tips. You can not keep it on Long Natural Nails unless they are hard. So you have a thin Base Coat, layers of Gel Polish, and a Sealer. Every system is a little different but all layers must be cured with a UV light. They also soak off instead of having to be filed off. I am having Great Success so far. I am No Expert on Gel Polish...Yet! if you go to the website that was in my post you can contact Jess Hoel who IS an expert on Gel Polish. She can answer all of your questions about Options Color Gel Polish. Sheryl Goldberg The Experience Salon & Spa Wheeling, IL Vicki Peters Inc. How does the gel polish adhere to the natural nail? Dehydrate/Prime/Polish? I use Masterworks system and have several gel polish options for my clients. I have never been in a class with Gel options that teach that Gel Polish can be used on natural nails, new to me!!?? (my spell check HATEs the word Soakable lol) First: Gel Polish on Enhancements is Redundant. This is REALLY for Natural nails. Don't do a double procedure and not get paid enough for your time! PLUS it will make the nails look Like Chiclets a LOT Thicker! I have a few people almost 2 weeks in now with Fabulous Results. I tried to pick the worst offenders in my Salon as my Victims Test Subjects. My Boss who always chews the end of her thumb, and has been bowling. (always the Death Nell for her nails) One of the Shampoo Girls( need I say more on that one) Then manager of the front Desk who has dry nails and is always cleaning something. She is hyper the Nervous type. One Hair Dresser who refuses to wear gloves and always has contact dermatitis, has it on one finger. Last time we tried a Gel on a finger she was taking Benadryl and wanting to chop her finger off by bed time. SHE is perfectly fine. Then another front desk girl who can't keep polish on since she works at Whole Foods as her Day Job. Everyone thrilled to death. On Myself???? Every finger is a different color or type of French. OPI Does not have a French White Polish Gel BUT The Vicki Peters Gel Smile is perfect for this. As a matter of fact I bet the whole line would work perfectly with the color polish. (Ever see some one have a "Duh" moment while writing a letter? It just happened) I don't have the patience to sit and see how long it takes to soak off. Having been a Kupa Educator for many years I am able to lightly file off the Sealer and Color and not damage the Base Gel underneath. I will try soaking off a client tomorrow and time it. I might just file off the sealer since it has to be broken anyway before soaking. I will let you all know. I also felt limited by the OPI Color Selection and contacted Jess Hoel who sells the Options Color Gels from her Website. http://www.shopluvnailz.com//index.php?cPath=44_75 <http://www.shopluvnailz.com/index.php?cPath=44_75&osCsid=9f45ded825f3115fad 41b3b6ce881742%20%20> &osCsid=9f45ded825f3115fad41b3b6ce881742 Her site is wonderful and has 40+ colors! For less than the cost of the OPI colors. This is an Akzents product. It is made so that all the colors soak off quickly, even the top coat, and she soaks it all off every time. Jess was great and let me pick her brain. I am now waiting foaming at the mouth with baited breath for my box of colors to get here. I have 2 "Tunnel" Gel Lights on my desk and will be doing my best to get the soak and redo down to an hour this week.(or less if I can) I am going to Blast Advertise a Spring Break Special! Full set for the price of a Fill. ( may change that name to Re polish or something that does not have the sound of AC. We have some people who are very Anti Enhancement around here) Have nails Guaranteed to last through your 2 week Spring Break! Sand and Salt water No Problem!
