IN PA you are required to file for a Ficticious Name if you are not a
corporation or if your Surname (Last name) isn't in the title of your
business. You will not be able to open a checking account without it.  It
falls under the UCC Code.  In PA it was $75 and yes it protects you,
however, it only protects your name in that state.  If you want rights to
your name in any other state you must file for a copyright or trademark.
