If your working with technicians that are performing the laces/hair etc, why
are they not promoting you and making their clients lay down $ in your chair as
well as their chair? Have you talked to the technicians in the salon to offer
their clients discounts as 1st time clients?

While you have some down time and see those clients in other techs chairs
receiving services give them 1 of your cards with a $10 to $15 discount on the
back for their 1st time visit or give them a FREE paraffin and tell them about
the January new year specials your offering for this month....i.e. mani/mini
pedi combo for only $40, etc....

Have you checked into running a living social deal of the day so that you can
obtain some new people exposure to the services you offer?

Tell all your current clients that your looking for new blood and want to offer
them a referral incentive that if they refer up to 3 clients they can receive a
FREE Pedicure or something equivalent.

Contact some of the business' in your surrounding areas and offer all of the
employees a 25% discount because they work for that company.....Keep track of
how many actually come in for your taxes as a write off too!

When the middle of the month rolls around in January send all your clients $5
Off ANY Service for them and a friend as a Valentines gift...Not only is this a
tax write off (gift) but they will probably not use it and it is a reminder
that you were thinking of them most will use it and give it back to you in a
tip any how, and they gift a friend as well.

EXPOSURE EXPOSURE EXPOSURE is key...make sure you are listed on google places,
yelp, merchant circle, yahoo and any other internet directory you can locate,
there is always places on these sites for discounts, ratings and coupons.

Best of luck to you and don't worry it will all come in faster then you can
file those nails!!! :)

Subject: NailTech:: in a funk...need some inspiration.

Hi Everyone....

Now that the holidays are over.. I'm looking at my book....blah!! Yes
I know its a quiet time as people get back to reality from the
holidays but I need some help myself getting back my nail passion.
Part of me is kinda frustrated on the NSS salon competition... and
hearing clients that come in for hair etc..."well I just go down the
street for nails cuz its less money". I know this is competition that
won't go away and has been around for years. But lately I have seen a
decline of NEW clients, my old faithful clients are staying strong so
I would hate to say its because of my work, Ive been in the industry
for 16+ years and offer everything from Gel manicures/ pedis to Minx
to Pink and Whites/gels and acrylics and stay up on the latest. But
when I see people come in and drop money for eyelash extensions,
highlights and wear "those other" salons nails... I mean we all know
what they look like..its frustrating cuz they won't even give ya a
try. GRR. I mean why do we, who are well educated and have
certificates after certificates of extra trainings have to explain
ourselves but clients can easily walk in the other salons, sit down
and not ask a question cuz their prices are "cheaper".

Then Im thinking if I need to do something else to add to my nail
menu... I have my cosmetology license so my options are open for other
services... I just haven't picked up hair scissors in years... but
maybe extensions? Who knows... Does anyone else do something other
then nails in the salon?

Thanks for listening... sorry if im in a funk.

Much nail love!!
Dawn
