Recipe of the Day

MICROWAVE APPLE SPICE CAKE
� c. packed brown sugar 
1/4 t. ground cloves
1/4 c. butter or margarine, softened 
1/4 t. salt
1 egg 
� c. milk
1 c. flour 
2 tart medium apples, peeled, cored and thinly sliced
1 t. baking powder 
Crumb Topping (see recipe below)
Whipped cream (optional)

In a bowl, cream together the sugar and butter. Add egg; beat well. 
In another bowl, stir together the baking powder, spices and salt. 
Add to creamed mixture alternately with milk; beat after each 
addition. Spread in a greased and floured 8" microwave-safe baking 
dish. Arrange apples over batter; sprinkle with Crumb Topping. 
Microwave, uncovered, about 7 minutes. Serve warm or cool. Cut in 
wedges; top with whipped cream, if desired. 

CRUMB TOPPING:
Mix 1/4 cup packed brown sugar, 1/4 cup flour and � teaspoon ground 
cinnamon. Cut in 2 tablespoons butter until mixture resembles coarse 
crumbs.
