I won't comment on the long term goal here, as it's still cooking :).
It'll be served soonish tho. Meanwhile, i think neko is such a nice vm
that any good lib should be bound to it- and OpenGL definitely is
useful.

well then- opengl's purpose should be clear to you :) and who wouldn't
want to use haxe to use it?
