I'm not so sure about that.  The electrons are only being pulled by a few dozen 
volts, so they're basically drifting along.  You might get ghosting if you try 
to multiplex VFDs too fast with insufficient blanking periods.  Certainly, they 
don't respond as fast as LEDs.
