many thanks for that precise insight, this will really save me time and
trouble.
For the first experiments I actually thought about stainless steel wire
for the numerals as well as for the anode mesh, but regarding long-term
considerations you are right about Mo.
I think laser cutting is possible here in Aachen, our institute of
physics actually build parts for the AMS experiment at the ISS, so they
should have the tools for that :-)
I have another question about the glas frit, though. In our beloved
Nixie tubes we often see a white or greenish substance on the parts of
the wires inside the bulb that ought not to be glowing. This is
apparently some kind of aluminum oxide used as an isolator.
But this is my problem: Glas frit is a substance like sand, how do I
attach this to the wires so that I can melt it on there? Or do I
pre-melt it and then place the mass on the pins?
