Had the pleasure of doing a full strip-to-the-frame re-cap and cleanup on a 32 channel Series 1e several years ago. New buss wires were strung all the way across the channels when the individual strips were finished and reinstalled. Took about 2 days just to string the busses and solder each card connection (around 1000 IIRC). Besides missing a few holes, the only issue was tracking down a few joints which didn't completely adhere to the buss wire and hence became intermittent after the frame was lifted (and flexed) a few times during installation. Since then there have been a few issues which required pulling a strip. Such an operation takes down the whole console for a usually minor problem. (still easier than replacing a pot on a Mackie 40x8 though...) As Jack indicated, it is a good opportunity to learn more patience. Dan -- SDG www.whiteaudio.com
