Hello,

I have successfully completed installing the RPM "Nessus 3.0.5 for Linux"
in my Linux (Redhat machine).
I am able to use the command line options as you specified to start the
scan.
But I dont see/know any steps to start the GUI access of starting the
Nessus Scan as specified in the Demo. Even in the client installation PDF I
didnt find any clue/steps to start the Nessus GUI.
At present I am able to see "nessusd waiting for incomming connections"
message when I give the command "ps -ef | grep nessus" in my Linux machine.
I am also able to use the command line options.
I have downloaded the GTK client RPM also from the website. But I am not
at all sure about how to proceed from now.

to install it, it's rpm -ivh <fll in the name of the rpm here>

very likely if you go to the directory where you downloaded the Nessus
Client rpm and type

rpm -ivh NessusClient*

you will get it installed. This makes the assumption that you have the right
package for your system (rpm is only on redhat and fedora core).

I wanted to know exactly the below details,

1. Can I start the Nessus GUI only with the nessus server RPM that I have
installed and up and running?

no, you need to have the client rpm installed. Please see the instructions
above

If so how and what are the commands/steps to start the Nessus GUI?

once you have it installed, it's "NessusClient" or
"/usr/X11R6/bin/NessusClient"

2. If the GTK client RPM is also needed along with the Nessus server RPM
then how and what are the commands/steps to start the Nessus GUI?

jsut the one command I listed: "NessusClient" or
"/usr/X11R6/bin/NessusClient"

Kindly help me out as soon as possible.

Thanks & Regards,
Girish
