Yes I have downloaded it and had a go, I got it running on GNU/Linux and connected to it from the Free Software version of the Linden client on the same machine. It's very easy to set up and the documentation on the web site covers any questions. It's written in C# which always worries me but I'm assured that Microsoft would suffer antitrust problems if they ever used their patents to cause problems. > I'm currently immersed in _Lively_ [machinima-ing + adding 2 the Linden Labs > and World of Warcraft rooms there] + I believe it has great potential. Oh cool. I hadn't heard of lively. Once it gets off of Windows it should be good. Blaxxun and Alphaworld never got off Windows and they are still just minor successes. ;-) There's also Project Looking Glass, and Solipsis, and Croquet. But OpenSim is definitely the most finished so far. More open environments will be good for Machinima because being able to add your own models and textures will cut down on licencing problems. - Rob. _______________________________________________ NetBehaviour mailing list [email protected] http://www.netbehaviour.org/mailman/listinfo/netbehaviour
