Hah -- I always used the simple term "cultural-industry complex" for the European art 'market' -- a well-funded (at least compared to Amurikan (non-existent) funding) effort of cultural hegemony to promote national cultural production...
anyway. it's easy to become confused, but equally easy to simply review Machiavelli when doubting the 'real' motivations of those in the market, the industry, or the patriarchy...
