Sorry Fred but I'm not able to answer your first question. About the second
question I can tell you that the number of colours is 2 raised to the power
of the depth you choose:
2^4=16 colours - 2^8=256 colours - 2^16=65536 colours an so on.
It's ok now? Sorry for my english but I finished the school 3 years
ago.....
