True. However, if you set the baud rate higher than the maximum your
port (or processor) can handle, it starts to slow down again. So, if
you have a 68000 with a 115200 capable serial and 56k modem, setting
the baud rate to 115200 will result in bottlenecks within the
computer. This is why some people are finding it faster to set lower
baud rates - they had previously set it to the highest _theoretical_
speed their setup could handle.
