Dear Amiga Format,
A serious issue has arisen which I feel yourselves, the Amiga
Community and others should be aware of.
People who bought Netconnect 2 less thatn one year ago are having to
pay about 30 in an upgrade fee to get Netconnect 3 in order than
Microdot II mailer program is made year 2000 compatible. Admittedly
the fee includes updates to the other programs but it seems ludicrous
that if all that is wanted is the Y2K bug fix (noting it is a bug fix
and not an update that Netconnect 2 users want) one is still expected
to pay 30.
Myself and others have raised this issue on [EMAIL PROTECTED]
mailing list but Active Technologies have failed to reply. I would
appreciate it if you could contact them (every time I email their
"support" address I get no reply) and see what their position is.
Note that we are not asking for free upgrades to Netconnect 3 from
version 2 - we just want the bug fix.
Enclosed below is a quote from the mailing list which highlights the
main reason an update is due to Netconnect 2 for free. "If there any
bug-fixes you receive updates" was in Active Technologies
advertisement in Amiga Format but they have failed to deliver the Y2K
bug fix to Netconnect 2 users. I'm sure Trading Standards would be
interested to here that in August 1999 Netconnect 2 was on sale and
the "free bug fixes" have never appeared.
I am copying this email to Active Technologies and
[EMAIL PROTECTED] as this is a major issue affecting a large number
of people.
Thankyou for your time.
