    I'm using 8n1.device with the internal serial port and mine is set at
115200 with a Pace 56k modem. My mate has a hypercom1 and a 33.6k modem and
his is set at 115200 as well.
    Try changing the serial buffer settings if you can, I found if they were
set too high I couldn't connect, and got a lot of crashes, getting them
right takes time but now my Amiga is reasonably stable :-) (fingers crossed
difficult to type)
