Richard Brooklyn reckons he knows a bit about [netconnect] Re: Genesis Bug?, so I 
thought I'd elaborate:

Not neccessarily. If it crashes and you want to continue online, it's
quicker to let it boot and then go online without dialling (have
another interface already set up) than to disconnect and dial again.
Especially if you don't want to waste another 5p.

But each to their own.
