I honestly don't know. Section 4.3e of the T&Cs
(http://www.redhotant.com/tc.shtml) says:

"(e) Abuse of the system. Such abuse to be defined as but not limited to
"pinging" of the system in order to keep the lines open during a period of
inactivity. "

So I would assume that if it is an FTP/IRC program, that you are actually using,
that is keeping the connection open it wouldn't be a problem.

As I say, this is the way I see it, I will try to find out the official line at
the weekend.
