Exactly. And hence talking about YANG 1.2 is simply confusing.

If you mean duplication of data models and data model specific merge
rules then I have trouble to believe this is desriable nor does it
seem to reflect what other proprietary ephemeral datastore
implementations do.

I would prefer to have ephemeral datastore support as an extension;
not all uses of YANG (perhaps even a big majority) require to describe
ephemeral datastores.

But depending on the solution selected, this may not require any
changes to YANG 1.1.
