There are even some very nice PC Card modems that work with DOS.

Last year I bought a Toshiba Satellite 2535 CDS that came with
a 3Com Noteworthy PC Card modem, and it was specifically compatible
with Windows, DOS and Linux.  I have all three of these operating
systems partitioned within this one notebook PC, and this little
modem works fine with all three.  And it works just fine with
Net-Tamer under PC DOS 2000's PCMCIA.
