Karen:

The problem, as stated the last time this topic came up, is
that Net-Tamer doesn't support Zmodem at all; it only supports
X/Ymodem at the PGUP/PGDN keys for telnet or direct dialup BBS
connections as well as the standard internet transfer protocols for
transferring files via the web and FTP -- none of which are Zmodem.
Any support for Zmodem that existed in the Rainbow Reader was probably
phased out or immediately abolished when Rainbow Reader became
Net-Tamer.

For local transfers with your ISP -- as probably would be the
case wherein you transfer files to and from your PERSONAL file or
workspace on your ISP -- Zmodem can be useful where it exists in
software used to make a dialup connection with your ISP. Your best
option, in that situation, is to use a communications program other
than Net-Tamer such as {COMMO}, Telix, Procomm, etc.. But, if you MUST
use Zmodem at the same time Net-Tamer is loaded and connected to an
ISP, you *MIGHT* -- and note that I emphasize the word "*MIGHT*" -- be
able to run Chuck Forsberg's DSZ.COM or DSZ.EXE in Net-Tamer's DOS
Shell. I've never tried this myself. So, I don't know how it would go.

Doing an ALT-S in Net-Tamer after you have initiated a file
transfer with your ISP would not be a problem -- provided your timing
and the point in the process where you invoke the shell is right. The
problem may lie in what happens after you have finished the file
transfer and exit the DOS Shell back to Net-Tamer. It's possible that
you might find yourself unable to communicate with your ISP through
Net-Tamer once you return from the DOS Shell. This has to do with
whether DSZ would do something to your COM port which Net-Tamer would
not expect and therefore could not rectify. Of course, I vaguely
recall -- perhaps in error -- that you can load DSZ with a
command-line option that tells it to restore the COM port to the same
condition in which it initially found the COM port as it exits. But,
even if you could escape this problem, you have the task of learning
how to drive DSZ with its many and variable command-line parameters.
For some, that can be a daunting task. Possibly, you could learn the
basic and essential command-line parameters, incorporate them into a
DOS batch file, and then run that batch file when you shell to DOS in
Net-Tamer.
