I have experienced this to a very great extent when I went ahead in the media. I always knew that they will for one thing never look at our ideology as an ideology or revolution in the first place. quotes like "although foss is becoming popular due to its high quality and stability, they still lack support and organised development. it will be a long time before foss is really into the industry " is a common ending or conclusion to so called pro foss articles. This is because free software developers are always dubbed as " enthusiasts" and that sounds to most readers as "people with hobbies but no professional approach". Often we here from the media "well, your proposed alternatives have good quality but M$ and the likes have professionalism. your software is still not a competitor to proprietory softwares, let's give people the *choice*" and from there the unbiased reporting as JTD stated starts taking place.
