Ya, I'm inclined to agree. 

I think the store problems are a matter of time. Once Mandrake gets
back in the black (read, "the green") I expect store service will 
improve. If it doesn't, then maybe something like that other suggestion
would be an option.

Until then, bad press might do more harm than good (for all of us,
in the big picture).
