Thanks for the suggestion, Earl. I did as you said.

Sorry, but I have had no success.

I did a fresh install with only Gnome and ICEWM selected. There was only 
ICEWM shown in the list of sessions in GDM. Trying to start Gnome via a 
Failsafe boot and "startx gnome" did not work (it ran ICEWM instead!).

So, whilst in ICEWM, using Drakrpm, I uninstalled Gnome and reinstalled 
it. This time I got the two seconds of Gnome starting again, then 
nothing.

I then repeated all the above but without ICEWM being installed. Again, 
nothing with a failsafe boot and the flash of starting with a graphical 
boot.

As no one else appears to have had any problems with running Gnome, I am 
wondering if there is something wrong with my DVD. KDE is quite OK. It 
looks as though I will have to abandon seeing what Gnome in LE2005 is 
like.
