This is getting old, download a new kernel (12-14) and now have lost 3D

good explanation of how to install the NVIDIA-Linux driver and fix the kernel
problem, I am floundering here.
I do exactly as the Nvidia site says but a mdk kernel pkg is apparently
missing.
Are you installing the Nvidia factory drivers or using powerpack Nvidia
DKMS drivers?
For the factory Nvidia drivers you always need to be sure to install the
kernel-source for your new kernel too. Otherwise the Nvidia installer
can't re-compile the driver when you run the Nvidia installer again
after booting with the new kernel.
Using the DKMS nvidia driver available from the powerpack version of the
Mandriva release, also available on plf though I haven't personally run
the plf version, all that needs be done is to make sure the
kernel-source is installed for the new kernel, then the driver will
automatically be built on the first boot with the new kernel.
And remember that there is one kernel-source for any numbered kernel
version, the various separate kernel packages being each built from this.
Do you have the DKMS-nvidia package installed, not just the
kernel-module? It's there in the powerpack.
