Johnny, I don't think you should give up on that machine. You should be able to install Mandriva on it. I haven't tried the "live" install, so I can't comment on that, but I would suggest that you download the live 4 cd version from one of the mirrors such as ftp.free.fr or the like. You don't really need to buy the "full" version from Mandriva to have a proper system. When it comes to bootloader setup, in order to simplify things, use LILO and make sure that the bootloader is written to the MBR. I am curious about the "SCSI" RAID controller. How can it be "SCSI" and "IDE" at the same time?
