Thanks for your timely reply Gireesh - I cannot easily copy and paste
that file yet as a modem is not installed till I find one that will work
with Linux. Until then I have set up a proxy XP box and am accessing the
Internet through the proxy server and have not been able to configure
the proxy server to allow email to pass back and forth to the 2007 box.
I will get it eventually and be able to respond/cut and paste/ in Linux.
Mean while 2007 will boot 3-5 times then stall so the HDD is there. I
think I might change the HDD as it may be having trouble. I will let you
know. Again appreciate your efforts to help and a giant thank you from
here - Johnny

Still having a boot problem. Got to work this morning and booted the
machine (I had changed from LiLo to GRUB GUI) and got a GRUB error
message #21 and then could go no further and had to reload Mandriva
again.... Here's the system ...
Dell Dimension XPS T600 (600 MHz) Bio's A04 Ram is 512
X86 Family 6 model 7
HDD IBM DPTA-373420 (running XP Pro - no problems)
Maxtor 6L080J4 (Runs Mandriva - Boot problem)
Video All-in-Wonder 128 Pro ultra AGP
Monitor View Sonic E655-2
SCSI Raid Controller Ultra IDE (not Used)
This install is from the live CD Mandriva One 2007 which was
downloaded
from the Internet as a try before buy from the Mandriva site. If
anyone
has any more ideals I sure could use some help. Failing that if
someone
could tell me how to uninstall Mandriva so I could use this machine as
simply an XP system I will build another computer and install
Mandriva
there. Thanks for the help - Johnny
Error #21 as per the grub website
21 : Selected disk does not exist
This error is returned if the device part of a device- or full
file name refers to a disk or BIOS device that is not present or
not recognized by the BIOS in the system.
You are trying to boot from a partition/disk that does not exist.
Could you please post the contents of /boot/grub/menu.lst?
What boot order is your BIOS set to?
There is no need to reinstall for this error. Just boot into the
Mandriva CD, at the first prompt type rescue and you can reinstall the
bootloader from there. I have good luck with the rescue feature of
Mandriva CDs.
