I've been using win4lin for about three months now without any particular
problems. I'm using Red Hat 7.1, updated with NetTraverse's pre-patched
2.4.4 kernel and that install went without a hitch. Before that, I tried the
patch they provide, but I had some problems. Mostly having to do with my own
inexperience, I'm guessing.

I have my wife running Win 98 on win4lin with this setup and she has had no
real problems at all. The Microsoft wheelmouse's wheel doesn't work, but
otherwise all hardware works (sound, cdrom, hdd's, etc). She uses mostly
Quicken and Internet Explorer, although I'm slowly moving her over to
Konqueror :-)

I'd give it a try. Good luck!
