Thank you for responding to my request.
I really didn't want to buy a separate video card.  I only have two PCI slots on
this board, however, I many have to.  Can you suggest other cards which are
reasonable?

Yes, I believe you are correct.  I haven't played with the frame buffer stuff
yet.
How do I enable the frame buffer software?

Yes,  I believe you are correct.  However, I supplied the correct H and V freq
ranges and I'm somewhat limited for time so playing with the XF86Config file is
not high on my priority list.  Moreover, this is a double boot machine,
Linux/Solairs, I'm still trying to get that problem solved.

I have seen some sis.patch files in the current X-4.1.0 distro from redhat and
there are patches available from SIS for the old X-3 versions and one for X-4.0.
