guess what...it seems like the problem is definitely driver related. I ran a test using the "fbdev" driver, and I can launch a session as a NON-su..it works...but whenever I use the vesa driver, it fails.
I understand that there are different X servers XF86_xxxx.....I always use the XFree86 4.1 server, no matter the driver...is that bad...can it be the cause of the problem with the vesa driver?
