I spent a few hours trying to research this but didn't find much. Apparently Trident support isn't that great. Perhaps Trident isn't releasing code to XFree86, I don't know. According to the XFree86 documents, your card is not supported. This may be why it is having a problem detecting the memory. There have been stories of success by using either the vesa or frame buffer drivers. Even some by addiing a chipset line to the device section to try to make it believe it's dealing with the tridentxp chipset. And others with using XFree864.2.0 but success seems spotty that way to.
Perhaps you could email the XFree86 developers and ask if support is coming for your card. Who knows, maybe it's available in CVS now. Sorry I couldn't help you. > Did you have a chance to look at the information on the Toshiba 4600 video > error? > > I know of at least one or two others that are having the same problem. > > Thanks. > > Vaughn > > > From: Vern W Heesch <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> > > >Reply-To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] > >To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] > >Subject: Re: [Newbie]ATI Rage 128 on Debian 2.4.16 > >Date: Thu, 21 Feb 2002 12:11:34 -0800 > > > >Out of curiosity, did you try the r128 driver instead of ati? > > > > > Frame buffer, eh?
