I'll try and give as much information as I can, so if I overstate, just ignore it.

Laptop is a Winbook J1 with a 1GHz Pentium3.  Others have reported full success installing X on this model, but I can't get a response as to the specifics.  What I've seen so far is the you need to skip X config during install.

Symptoms:  running XFree86.config or Xconfigurator the best I can do is 800x600 in 16-bit color, but there is a black 1-inch border around the screen.  640x480 results in a bigger black border.  1024x768 yields only a 1 inch wide area on the far right (vertical) and the rest of the screen is black.

During setup I get a full screen.  This is for RH 7.1.  Winbook is very tight-lipped about the refresh rates for the LCD screen and I have tried jsut about all that seem reasonable.  THe video card is a Trident Cyberblade II and this is not listed on the XFree86 page as being supported.  The system is rock solid, I just can't get full screen.

Thanks in advance
Michael Derksen
