Your problem may be more basic than working with 2 monitors (there I cann't help) It is quite possible that startx is attempting to run X 3.3.6 while XFree86 is 4.x.x (normally 4.1 with RH 7.2) to check what is happening do X -version (NOT XFree86 -version) or after attempting to use startx look at the log /var/log/XFree86.0.log once you are sure of what you are running then post the config file and the log Note I doubt 3.3.6 runs 2 monitors (I am not sure though...) /etc/X11/XF86Config-4 is the config for 4.x.x in RH 7.2 (XF86Config is for 3.3.6) Lionel
