I recently installed RH 7.2. Due to problems with my video chipset (the
dreaded SiS630) I installed XFree86 4.2 from the binaries. When I tried
to run "XFree86 -configure" I got EXACTLY the same complain as yours. I
don't know what's going on either.
Anyway, now the SiS driver in XFree86 4.2 seems to work, but instead of
displaying Gnome (which I installed during the RH installation) I get the
old twm windows manager. Does anyone know what should I do in order to
activate Gnome (or KDE) when I run "startx"?
