This seems to be a Frequently Asked Question.  My guess would be put
something like "exec startkde" (or the Gnome equivalent) in your
$HOME/.xinitrc, but I don't think that's the RedHat Way because it seems
unlikely that upgrading XFree86 would clobber things in one user's
$HOME.  Any RedHat people have a better answer?
