My 84' CB650SC has 4 positions on the ignition switch. From far
counterclockwise position, they are "Lock" with steering locked, "Park" w/tail
light only on, "OFF", and "ON". If you are similarly equipped, that may be an
explanation for the light you saw. Note that it would be the tail light, not
the brake light.

One night I did the ol' steering wheel lock on my 450 and then put the
motorcycle cover over. After dark I happened to go outside and could see a
faint red glow down on the street. It was my brake light shining thru the
motorcycle cover! So since then I've not used the steering lock. Also must be
some kind of pinch short.

Vancouver BC? I am jealous. Vancouver WA? Not.

          Hey Ryan
I have a very similar issue with my NH550. Taillight cuts out
sometimes, sometimes eveything just goes dead. Nothing goes on til I wiggle
the key in the ignition a bit. I think its a loose connection, but my mechanic
says the rectifier's shot, and it has destroying the battery. Can't find the
part, and even after I do, I'm not convinced that's the solution. Maybe water
got in and a bad connection resulted in the rectifier problem. This is a huge
bummer,
cuz I have the week off and the weather around Vancouver is beautiful
this week. Let me know how things progress and I'll do the same.

Hello all.Last night I pointed my headlight at the garage door to adjust
itvertically. It seemed the headlight was aiming a little high. As Iloosened
the two screws on each side and angled the headlight down,
all lights shut off. I'm guessing wires are probably pinchingunderneath the
headlight. I managed to angle it down keepingeverything on. I sat on the bike
and checked the headlight position, etc. I realized my tail light indicator was
on, which i'm guessing
means you tail light isn't working, because as I looked back, it wasnot on. I
turned my key slightly more to the right and the tail lightcame on, indicator
off. I've also noticed if I wiggle the key in the
ignition the bike cuts
out.Do I have a major electrical issue ahead of me. Need a new
ignitionswith?I'd appreciate any help.dub.
