i had a vf750 v45 mid 80s and the large horizontal radiator caught alot of

moved to florida and they had helmet laws then. but i drove it for 5 years as
my only transportation. wind rain and snow. im not a mechanic but i mantained
everything my self. even the tires. no problems in all that time accept it was
a babe magnet. makes it hard to stay monogomous. if you go test the bike out
bring some tools and gas. drain the bowls before you even crank it. visual
inspect it. check the oil. and then drive it. listen to it. get down on one
knee and get close to those valves. dont be afraid to rev the shit out of it.
better it breaks before you buy it. if their is carborator problems try reving
really high and then covering the air intake some how. i use a piece of 3"x6"
cardboard on my 86 nh 700sc. this will flood the carborator. drain the bowls
again. crank it. repeat as necessary. good luck. sending pic of my nh.

If I remember correctly, wasn't the Magna the faster bike? It made less
power but because of how it was geared, it was actually quicker.
Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

They share quite a bit but not everything. the frames are, of
course, very different. The Magna makes 118 HP and the Sabre 122. Overall
gearing is different. The carb pack is not the same. Most internals are
interchangeable.

So the Magna and the Sabre share the same motor???

of the bike world. Use once, throw away. The cost of repairs to the
transmission or top end are too high to bear. There are no cams and top end
parts available anymore. What you have is what you got. I rebuilt a 700 Magna
top end a year ago and the guy kept trying to low-ball the job and picked up
two motors from somewhere.. Yeah right, both had the same problem he had
already. Bad cams and followers. I finally told him to get new parts or take it
home. He found some somewhere. He wouldn't cough up all of my bill so I stuck
him with putting the motor back in. Hymn 69.

Easily avoided by not twisting the guts out of it on start-up. There is a
special tool for adjusting the valves on the early model V's. Vital to proper
service. I treat my V65 with TLC. I break it, it's done. The second generation
V's are MUCH better.
