All I did was put an K&N intake and flowmaster exhaust. increased my mpg a
bit. I want to install a hydrogen boost system to further increase my mpg
but the truck came with a great warranty and has been great so I am trying
to leave it alone. for somebody like me it is really difficult not to tinker
:p I have been trying to keep busy with the bikes.

My son has the same truck, same year but it has plenty of get up and go. Of
course he's always trying to get up and go faster. He gets about 15 mpg. My
Tacoma is about as fast and as Aldo said .... Hey Aldo, how come you get 22
- all I get is 20 and less on the highway at 70 mpg.

There is plenty you can do to make your truck faster but none of it is worth
the $$ .The Silverado weighs more and has shorter gears.. It is slower but
can haul more. Get a Toyota! My Pre-Runner is a rocket and gets around 22mpg
out of a 250hp 4.0L V6 :-)

this is actually off-topic...but i've got to get it off my chest, and
see if anyone can give me any suggestions...

My first vehicle, that i paid for and owned outright is a 1991 GMC
Sonoma-S15 Pickup truck...SLE model...with a 4.3 L engine!....

My second vehicle is of course my beloved 1984 Honda Nighthawk
CB650SC...

My third vehicle, that i paid cash for and own outright, is a lovely
looking black 2003 Chevy Silverado Ext Cab Pickup Truck...LS
model...with a 5.8L engine!...

so what's the problem you ask? well the problem is that the 2003 5.8L
engine has absolutely NO GET UP AND GO!!!!!....

if i raced both truck from zero to 60, the 91 GMC would easily leave
the 03 Chevy back at the starting line trying to figure out what the
hell is going on!!!....

i don't think either of these engines have any modifications, but
still....the difference in get up and go is like night and day...

i was on the freeway today, trying to pass a truck so i could change
lanes...well, i was going all of 60 mph...and so was the truck, which
was actually slowing down cause he was trying to change lanes also...i
was going left...he was going right...anyway...i kept pressing the gas
to try to speed up...and MY truck just would not accelerate...it took
at least 15 seconds for it to get up to 66 mph...

then a couple of miles down the road, i tried to jump in the fast lane
at 60 mph...and almost got rear ended while i tried to
accelerate!....i don't do this all the time because i know the truck
doesn't have any get up and go...but i was in a bit of a hurry
today...damn it!...

so what the hell is going on!

any suggestions on what i can do to get the 5.8 liter engine some get
up and go?

thanks,

-NghthwkLvr-
