I tried it with my 84 650.  As Dennis said, you'll need some special
tools.  You'll need a piece of PVC just slightly larger than the
diameter of the tube to drive the seal down into place.  Also a
special pair of pliers to grab the snap ring under the dust cap to get
the old seal out.  My buddy and I tried it and I ended up taking my
tube to my local shop to have it done.  We couldn't get the snap ring
out as I didn't have the right pliers...
