Conversion of cc's of fork oil to ounces: right side: 15.2 oz., left side 15.7
oz. (I had only a bottle with ounces on it....it had to do!). Dennis could
probably do this in 1/2 the time it takes one of us newbies.....;)

I can make it a bit easier. Loosen the caps on the top of the forks
while they are still on the bike before you loosen the clamp bolts that hold
the forks. DON'T REMOVE THE CAPS YET. Remove the wheel, fender, etc. Complete
the front end disassembly. Remove the Allen bolt in the bottom of the fork
leg. You should use a hammer impact tool for this. Remove dust seal and C clip.
Clamp fork bottom in a large vise and pull tube sharply upward. The tube will
(should) come out carrying the syntalic bushing and defective seal with it.
Now remove the caps and flush and clean all parts. Drive new seal down with a
piece of PVC tubing (ID=tube, OD=less than bottom ID) Reinstall caps on tubes
and place in bottoms, reinstall Allen bolts. Assemble front end and refill
tubes with oil. 423cc right side, 429cc left side.

Yes, I have the manual and have read the pages. Thanks! I am a
little intimidated by the process. If several non-pro mechanics have
done it without problem, then maybe I will try it.
Thanks
Mike

almost finished with it. It rides great and I love it. I was thinking about
rebuilding the front forks. I have never done that before. Have any of you
personally done this task? How hard was it and were you satisfied with the
results? Any tips?
