This is a tough one. Part of me agrees with the idea, specially when I am
sitting on very slow or complete stopped traffic in the highway, for, lets
say, 15 miles! It makes me wonder what the hell am I doing on a bike? The
other part of me tells me it might be a mistake. Coming from a country in
which almost anything is allowed to motorcyclists, I can see how car drivers
will never respect your lane and/or space if they know you can just go ahead
and pass through the cars in two lanes. I am not saying that it is the same
situation, but I can feel much safer driving in the U.S. just because of
that. Perhaps if it is done  as mentioned, with very specific rules that
only allow it in very specific situations, it ain't that bad. I wonder
whether makes more sense let bikers to go on the shoulder when traffic is
stop on the highways or interstates instead between lanes.
