and I had a falcoon, my first car in America, a 1968. Bought it for
$200, put 134k miles on it, sold it for $600. Drove it from Philly
to S.C. and back regularly. I did burn out a valve, or it had a
burned out valve when we got it. So I took the head off and took it
up to our one room efficiency apt on 34th and Race St in Philly and
fixed it.
Unfortunately, I had an accident when putting it back together. I
had a friend crank the engine over while I caught gas coming out of
the gas line.... I wanted to clean parts of the engine. The engine
caught on fire and burned up the wires - all the spark plug wires -
plus. My friend and I walked up and down Race St and found enough
spark plug wires and bits and pieces to get the car running. Had it
painted at Earl Sheib's for about $200 or was it $70? A great car,
Graham
