Last year I was riding my buddy's pretty, shiny, pearl-white suzuki
boulevard and had just passed behind an 18wheeler that was in the far right
lane. I had moved from the middle lane to the exit lane when his left-rear
tire exploded. The loudest boom human ears have ever heard as far as I'm
concerned. I nearly jumped off the back of that bike. Then the chunks came,
I ducked beneath the windscreen and managed to dodge all of them. All I
could think about at the time was getting scuff marks on his pretty white
bike. Immediately afterwards I realized just how luck I was that I wasn't on
his left anymore. I have never liked riding near trucks in the first place,
but now I give them an even wider birth.
