So I did my first drive chain adjustment. It was at about 2.5" from where the Clymer manual shows to measure, which seemed really, really loose. I tightened it up to about 3/4-7/8" (Clymer says 3/4"-1 3/16", I figured tighter-end of the range would be better as it gets looser but let me know if I should loosen it a bit).

Took her for a spin, she seems happy. Noticeably different noise coming from the drive chain now although after another 6 hours on the

Thanks so much to everyone for their excellent advice!

Speaking of the chain. Be careful to leave some slack in it (about 1.5
inches) if it is too taught it can mess up the counter shaft bearing. Too
loose and it will slap the swing arm and feel clunky.
