I have been trying to get the bike up and running, and after waiting
for the tank to come back with a fresh paint job and lining (very
rusty) I started to reassemble. The petcock diagram in my Clymer
manual looks like what I have in hand, but the parts fiche from Honda
shows a filter element that covers the intake tube in the tank, so I
went out and got that. Problem is, my tube is off centered, and the
filter actually bends the intake tube if it is slipped over, as it
wants to be centered in the opening. Something isn't quite right.
Also, the petcock now seems to be leaking around the on/off/reserve
lever. I suspect I need to order and replace the entire assembly.
Anyone out there with experience on this thing?

The other issue, and this existed prior to bodywork/painting, is that
my gas cap doesn't seal tight, and even with a new cap the problem
remains. The bike had been laid down before I got it, and the tank was
dinged up a bit, but it's all straightened out now and I can't figger
out what's going on. If I fill the tank up, it actually begins to leak
as if the tank is pressurized.

Any help for this newbie would be appreciated. I'd sure like to ride
this before Autumn sets in.

Jim
